Current season

Last updated February 2023

A staged reading of two powerful plays, as well as a fundraising benefit for Clever Enough. Featuring a silent auction, a discussion of the proposed upcoming season, schmoozing, etc.

Pariah, or the Outcast, by August Strindberg
Directed by Valerie Asbell
Two men in a farmhouse, with a storm raging outside. Both men have a criminal past and as a battle of wits ensues, the audience is left to decide which of these men are more evil.

No Such Thing, by Douglas Hill
Directed by Sarah Nolte
Steven has written an impressive essay that Alan wants to see published. The problem is, it would out Steven as gay, which he can’t allow to happen as it would also destroy his career. A heated discussion progresses and the two men clash on what is right… and what is fair.

This is company owner Valerie Asbell typing this… You may wonder, why does this say “proposed shows”? Well… my company doesn’t currently have the funds to put on these shows… this is just what I would like to do. 🙂 Therefore, as you can see, I have decided to put on the plays listed above as a fun staged reading, which will also be a fundraiser for Clever Enough. Will this event raise enough money to put on the following plays? Who knows? But it’s worth a shot. If nothing else, it will likely raise enough money to put on at least one show and that’s better than nothing. So without further ado, here is what I am… hoping to put on:

Ghosts, by Henrik Ibsen
A powerful tale of classism, sexism, with a raw storyline that leaves the audience breathless.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by William Shakespeare
Preferably free Shakespeare in the park.

I’m Dead, a new play by Valerie Asbell
About the student debt crisis. Stay tuned on that…
